Standup9ja: Reps summon IGP, SARS over raid
A House of Representatives ad-hoc committee has summoned the
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris and the head of the Special
Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Lagos State Command, over a recent search on the
residence of a Kano lawmaker.
Rep Sani Mohammed Aliyu (APC, Kano) had a fortnight ago
presented a motion on the floor of the House where he alleged that five SARS
men from Lagos raided his house without any explanation.
Members of the panel headed by Rep Toby Okechukwu (PDP,
Enugu) were concerned that despite the presence of SARS and other police
formations in Kano and other neighboring states, it was Lagos SARS that was
assigned to carry out the search.
