$1Bn Theft Allegation: ‘Shut Up And Hold Your Peace’ – Fani-Kayode Tells Emir Sanusi

The Emir of Kano, in an interview on
PBS Newshour
in the US, alleged that about $1billion left Nigeria’s coffers every
month during the administration of former President, Goodluck Jonathan.
The
monarch had said: “In Nigeria, there is no accountability at all and
that is why I think Nigeria’s corruption is worse than corruption in
most parts of the world. It is the worst type of corruption. It’s
stealing. Frankly I think a billion dollars under Jonathan a month was
about what we were losing.”
Reacting to the comments
on his Facebook page, Fani-Kayode said the Emir of Kano should back up
his claims with evidence or he should keep quiet and ‘hold his peace’.
“When
I was told that the Emir said this to the American media I was left
with the conclusion that he has completely lost touch with reality and
possibly lost his mind. He should provide the evidence to prove his
allegation that one billion dollars was stolen every month by Jonathan
or he should just shut up and hold his peace.”
“If it is not
President Buhari travelling to foreign lands to criminalize and defame
the Nigerian people with his malicious words and absurd generalizations
it is people like Emir Sanusi Lamido. This rubbish has to stop.”
