ez Proves That Gbagyi Child Is An Album Worth Looking Forward To

3 years after releasing his debut album, Super Sun, Bez is making a comeback with new album, Gbagyi Child – and he showed that it is a project worth looking forward to.
Set to be released sometime in November, Bez’s sophomore album is a breath of sweet, refreshing air. Surrounded by his wife; his boss, Cobhams Asuquo; his industry colleagues, friends and media, Bez treated his guests to tunes from the album at Fuse Lounge on Sunday night, while graciously answering questions in a session moderated by Bolanle Olukanni.

When I asked about the concept of the name, he explained that he is from the Gbagyi tribe of Nassarawa, and he had to travel back to his ancestral roots to draw the inspiration for this album. And true to his words, his work had a lot of traditional instruments infused into the body of the music, hence, Gbagyi Child.
When also posed with the question of how he picked talents to work with on the project, he admitted that there was no definitive roadmap on how he selected people to work with. He says that what they did was work with new talents from different spheres of music. He cheekily name-dropped Marcie Chapa, a percussionist famous for working with the likes of Beyonce, as somebody he had on the project after attending an event in New York.
With notable names like Noble Igwe, Seyi Shay, Falz, Olisa Adibua, Audu Maikori, Toke Makinwa, Timi Dakolo, Kunbi Oyelese, Tito Idakula, Kaylah Oniwo, Makida Moka, OC Ukeje, Ozzy Agu, and Lala Akindoju coming out to lend full support to Bez’s album, it is obvious that Bez is not lacking in support from his colleagues.

Bez thrilled the crowd with some live rendition of his music from Gbagyi Child, and it is safe to say that this album will be a masterpiece. I had little faith in a follow up album being better than Super Sun but after Bez and his amazing band played some soft soul and eventually soft rock numbers from the album, there is no doubt left that Gbagyi Child will at least as awesome as its predecessor.
