Liverpool have become the first team to defeat leaders Manchester City in the league this season after hanging on to claim a thrilling 4-3 victory at Anfield.


Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah were all on target as Liverpool beat the leaders.
Oxlade-Chamberlain was superb in the midfield and opened the scoring with an excellent ninth-minute opener.
Leroy Sane fired home at the near post to draw City level five minutes before the interval.
However, Firmino scored his 10th Premier League goal of the season with a deft finish in the 59th minute.
Mane added the third for the hosts only 126 seconds later while Salah ensured that the match is kept out of City's hand.
Although Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan scored late to set up a nervy end to the match, Liverpool held on to inflict a first defeat upon Pep Guardiola's side in 23 top-flight games this season.
