Standup9ja: FG to co-opt FRSC into ‘FISH’ housing scheme
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoCSF) Mrs.
Winifred Oyo-Ita has assured the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) that it
will be co-opted into the Federal Integrated Staff Housing (FISH) programme
initiated by the Federal Government to provide affordable housing for the
federal civil servants before they retire from service.
She gave the assurance on Friday in her office in Abuja when
the management of the FRSC led by the Corps Marshal Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi visited
her.
She said that FISH programme being a sub-set of the Federal
Government mass-housing scheme provides an impetus for the uplift of the
welfare of federal workers of which the FRSC officials can benefit from.
Mrs. Oyo-Ita said the objective of the FISH programme is to
provide cost effective and affordable housing for various categories of
workers, through multi-sectoral supports and cooperation which includes group
land acquisition from governments, provision of infrastructure and financial
supports through strategic partnership with private developers and other
stakeholders.
Speaking earlier, the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Dr Boboye
Oyeyemi, said the purpose of the visit was to solicit the support of the HoCSF
in the area of provision of affordable housing to officers and men of the Corps
under the FISH programme.
He said one of the greatest challenges any public servant
will face in his life is retiring from service without having a house of his
own.
