Standup9ja: I won’t share Kogi money amongst elites — Bello
Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello has come hard on his
critics who are accusing him of running a non-inclusive government, saying the
resources of the state are for all and not for the elites alone.
This was as
Kano State governor, Abdulahi Ganduje said that all was now set for the
economic summit planned by his State to re-launch Kano as the economic hub of
the northern Nigeria and beyond.
Both leaders who observed their Jummat prayer
with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa on Friday spoke to
State House correspondents at the end of the worship.
Governor Yahaya Bello of
Kogi State Bello expressed gratitude to God for His healing mercy upon the
President and thanked the President for the appointment of Professor Steven
Ikani Ocheni as a ministerial nominee to replace late James Ocholi. He said:
“It’s usual we come on Fridays and we follow Mr President to pray Jumat prayers
and we are happy that he is getting stronger and stronger by the day and we can
only thank Almighty Allah for this wonderful job that he has done for this country.
“I only urge all Nigerians to continue to pray and give him all the necessary
support. Nigeria is going to be better. “I thank the good people of Kogi state.
Today, we have a ministerial nominee. Professor Steven Ikani Ocheni is a
renowned professor.
He is versatile, a workaholic. He is never tired and I am
very sure he is going to make Mr President very proud. He is going to make
Nigeria proud and the good people of Kogi state proud and we thank Mr President
for this wonderful nomination.
Speaking on the on economic developments in Kogi
State, Bello said that investors from America and Europe had been flooding his
state for investments, saying that dark days were over. “In the last 13 or 14
months that I took over office, if you have been there, you would know that
Kogi is changing from the dark days to the present economic prosperity.
A whole
lot has been done. We are following our economic blueprint and things are
changing. On his part, the Kano governor, Ganduje said that the summit would
enhance economic activities of the State. “The economic summit is coming up on
the 24 of April.
We are grateful to Mr President for bringing peace and
stability to Nigeria, especially for fighting the insurgency in the North east
of Nigeria, that is main economic hindrance especially here in the North.
Having attained a high degree of stability now, I think it is imperative to
open our doors, Kano being the commercial nerve centre of the North and the
commercial nerve centre of some West African countries.
