Standup9ja: BBOG asks FG to negotiate with Boko Haram over
Chibok girls' release
The BringBackOurGirlsGroup (BBOG) has written an open letter
to the Federal Government to reemphasize its demand for the government to
consider negotiation in rescuing the remaining 198 girls in captivity.
Convener of the group, Oby Ezekwesili who uploaded the
letter on her twitter page, said people in government became accountable to the
people once they choose to serve.
She said the group decided to adopt an open medium to
communicate the content of the letter to the government after being ignored since
over two months when the letter was sent.
“We consider it grossly objectionable that FG chose to be
unresponsive to a letter that was addressed and delivered to the minister of
Information as well as copied and sent to the Vice President, Chief of Staff of
the president and minister of Defence”.
“we hereby published the letter in order to convey a strong
message to FG that it cannot scuttle public scrutiny and demand for
accountability on status of the remaining ChibokGirls” she said.
“Our Movement believes that the constitutional duty of
government is to be accountable and to provide answers to citizens on issues
that affects them,” she added.
