Lisbon Not Concerned About Reports Linking Rui Patricio To Arsenal
He’s been
linked with succeeding Petr Cech as Arsenal’s No. 1 but, according to
Portuguese newspaper Record, interest in goalkeeper Rui Patricio is of no
concern to Sporting Lisbon’s president.
Bruno de
Carvalho has reiterated he wants the 29-year-old Portugal international to
finish his career at the Estadio Jose Alvalade and is confident Patricio will
stay.
Reports have
suggested that Arsenal are lining up a £13 million bid for Sporting Lisbon
goalkeeper Patricio as a replacement for Petr Cech,
Cech, 34,
has looked unconvincing at times this season, while David Ospina has been
unable to take advantage and claim the No.1 shirt for himself.
Patricio,
six years Cech’s junior, as a standout performer for Portugal as they won Euro
2016, and was named in the team of the tournament. The Portuguese keeper has
been capped 57 times for his country, while clocking up almost 400 appearances
for the Primeira Liga side since graduating from their youth academy in 2006.
