Standup9ja - PDP factions differ on INEC’s timetable

The Spokesman for the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff-led faction, Bernard Mikko in a telephone interview with Daily Trust last night said the Sheriff-led PDP is not against the timetable.

“For us in the PDP, we believe that the timetable may have been in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act. This is a wakeup call for us in the PDP. We have to put our house in order and key into the timetable in order to ýwin the presidential election. We are not against the timetable,” he said.

However, the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker of the party opposed the timetable. Spokesman for the committee, Prince Dayo Adeyeye told our correspondent in a telephone interview that the timetable fell short of expectation.

“We are opposed to ýthe timetable. Why are they not holding all the elections in one day? Do they want to manipulate the elections? We are opposed to the timetable.

“Why is the INEC even rushing? The Ekiti State governorship election is going to be held in 2018 but there is no timetable yet. Why the rush for the 2019 elections?” he queried.
