Standup9ja - Kano to
employ 1000 female teachers
Kano state
government is to recruit 1, 000 female holders of National Certificate of
Education (NCE) to teach in public primary schools across the state.
The state
Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje stated this at the graduation of 500 women
who were trained in various skills acquisition under the Ganduje Kanawa
Economic Empowerment Initiative, a programme promoted by Hajiya Binta Sani
Danmaijuju and supported by Kano state government.
Ganduje said
already, females with such qualification had been directed to submit their
credentials to their respective local governments of origin for authentication.
He stated
that Kano state government would soon enlist many youthful women for training
on auto mechanics and allied areas at Peugeot Automobile Nigeria Training
Center, Kaduna.
Governor
Ganduje maintained that the move was part of strategies to give women the
skills and confidence to be self-employed, maintain comfortable lifestyles, and
standardize homes for themselves and their children.
He recalled
that about two weeks ago, the state government recruited many females among its
new tax officers, while many empowerment programmes have been initiated for
various categories of women in the state in the past 21 months.
"Women
empowerment helps women to stand on their own legs, become independent and earn
for their family which stimulates the economy. To empower a woman means to
reduce poverty Sometimes, the money earned by the husband is not sufficient to
meet the demands of the family. The added earnings of women help the family to
address some challenges affecting the family," he said.
The
governor, who thanked Hajiya Binta for initiating the empowerment programme,
assuring that government, would continue to support the less privileged women
through the initiative.
The
initiator of the initiative, Hajiya Binta Sani Danmaijuju, said the 500
beneficiaries were trained for three weeks on Bed sheet making, Beads and
Jewelry design, Hair dressing, Cosmetics making, Photography, soap making and
Video coverage among others.
