Standup9ja - Osinbajo not behind NCAA sacks — Minister
The Minister of State (Aviation) Senator Hadi Sirika said
the recent sack of directors in the aviation sector was not connection with
fallouts of the unscheduled visit by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to the
Lagos international airport.
Prof. Osinbajo had on Thursday February 23rd, 2017, in
company of the Sirika, undertaken an inspection visit to the Murtala Muhammed
International Airport, Lagos. The visit was to assess state of facilities at
the nation’s number one airport, and to see possible areas of immediate
attention.
Shortly after the visit, the minister approved some
reorganization in the Nigerian Civil Aviation of Authority (NCAA) which saw all
10 directors relieved of their appointments. Three directors would later be
reinstated.
Three new directors were also announced for the Federal
Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
A statement signed by Mr. James Odaudu, the Deputy Director,
Press on behalf of the minister said “the link between the two events has no
basis, as the reorganisation in the agencies is part of an ongoing process to
reposition them to properly and adequately carry out their regulatory
mandates.”
