Jonathan’s Statement On The Ongoing $2.1billion Arms Deal Scandal

Addressing a press conference in Geneva on Security, and Development in Africa, Past Nigerian President, Dr. Ebele Goodluck Jonthan maintained that he would not like to comment on the arms probe matter now because his comment could affect witnesses and the judicial proceeding that had been initiated by the current administration.
He said: “I would not like to comment now because the matter is in court. I cannot comment. Definitely, I will speak. My Comment now may affect witnesses and the judicial process.
“When I was President, I tried to build institutions like the Judiciary and separation of power and the electoral bodies. I should not be the one undermining the process.”

Lassa Fever Kills 1, 26 Under Surveillance In Jigawa

Authorities of Jigawa state have confirmed the outbreak of Lassa fever in the state as one person has been reported dead with over 26 other persons who had contact with the deceased currently under surveillance.
Commissioner of Health, Dr Abba Zakari, while confirming the sad development, stated that the victim, who resided at Gujubaki village in Dutse Local Government area of the state had just returned from Port Harcourt in Rivers State and reported to Dutse General Hospital with signs and symptoms suggestive to Lassa fever.

The Federal Government via its anti-corruption agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday, January 25 presented two out of the 18 witnesses it lined up against the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olisa Metuh, in connection to the charges of money laundering involving the sum of N400m which he allegedly collected from the Office of the National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki in November 2014.

Addressing pressmen in Kaduna on Monday, January 25, Senator Shehu Sani, who is the chairman, Senate Committee on Foreign and Domestic Debts, as well as Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs stated that any corrupt Nigerian running to President Muhammadu Buhari for cover would be exposed, investigated and prosecuted.
He said: “Corrupt Nigerians have stashed unbelievable amount of monies in Dubai alone in the name of estates acquisition, purchase of exotic houses and business partnership in the last 16 years. Some have stashed raw cash. This is why the US, and Europe are making conditions for laundering of money into their countries very difficult.

N22bn Fraud: EFCC Files 22 Fresh Charges Against Tompolo | Presents 25 Witnesses

During the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, on Friday, the federal government, who lined up 25 witnesses to testify against Tompolo and 12 others, filed 22 fresh charges, which bordered on stealing, advanced fee fraud and money laundering.
The charges leveled against them involve the fraudulently converting over N22.7bn, stolen from NIMASA, to their personal use between December 12, 2014 and April 10, 2015.

Nigerian Soldiers Kill Scores Of Boko Haram Terrorists, Recover Arms, Free 370 Hostages [Photos]

Gallant troops of the Nigerian Army have succeeded in slaughtering dozens of Boko Haram insurgents; destroyed camps, rescued 370 hostages and recovered arms and ammunition of various calibers, Premium Times reports.
Speaking during a press conference in Borno, the deputy theatre commander in charge of operations, Lucky Irabor, a major general, said the ongoing offensive led to the death of the terrorists in the past few days.
