Akwa Ibom: 5,000 PDP Members Defect To APC
At least 5,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Akwa Ibom state chapter have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Obot Akara local government area on Tuesday, December 29, Leadership reports.
The political leader of
the area and former member of the House of Representative, Abom Tony
Esu, who spoke at the event, which also witnessed the official
commissioning of the Obot Akara APC chapter Secretariat office, thanked
the people of Obot Akara, Ikot Ekpene and Essien for “seeing the truth
and embracing the light”.
Sir Kufre Inyangette, the Akwa Ibom Northwest senatorial district chairman of the APC, receiving the PDP decampees, thanked them for “seeing the light of salvation”.
He assured them of equal rights and privileges as they “join the family of Progressives to redeem the state”.
