Mamadou Sakho Reveals That Brendan Rodgers Made Him Feel Like A “Caged Lion”
Mamadou Sakho has admitted that former
Liverpool manager, Brendan Rogers had frustrated him at the club by
excluding him out of the team. He however said he was helped by messages
of support from former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.
Brendan Rodgers preferred Dejan Lovren to Sakho at the heart of the Reds defence for the first five games of the season, before Sakho returned to the first-team against Bordeaux in the Europa League.

Sakho has since committed his future to Liverpool by signing a new contract and he said in a recent interview.
‘Let’s say that during the short period when I was not playing, I was like a little caged lion who had not been fed for a while. And when you open the door, he charges,’.

‘Steven is an example. Also, he often sends me small text messages like after my first match of the season at Bordeaux, in the Europa League, with the captain armband.
‘He texted me to congratulate me, he said: “Continue to fight like that, I’m proud of you.”
‘It’s always nice to receive such a message from a great player.’
